New publication on detection of a pulsar wind nebula inside a supernova remnant shell

March 28, 2026

This publication reports the discovery of a pulsar wind nebula in the complex Vela Junior region. Gamma-ray emission from this region has traditionally been attributed to the supernova remnant; however, now thanks to new analysis techniques, we were able to detect emission with distinct properties originating from the position of the pulsar. The emission is consistent with a pulsar wind nebula at this position, which is also detected at both X-ray and radio wavelengths.
